Iowa City Fed Activities

iowacitycandCandidates Academy

The next Iowa City Federation of Labor Candidates Academy is next week.  Although this Academy will focus on School District issues it is open to all candidates, elected officials and people thinking about running for office (as well as the general public).

Candidates for office must attend at least one Candidates Academy to receive an endorsement from the Iowa City Federation of Labor.  If you are planning on attending the City Council Candidates Academy later in the summer you may want to attend next week as well in case you are unable to attend the next (and last) one this year.

Community ID Business Outreach
Local Businesses have begun to sign up to recognize the recently passed Community ID. Businesses are participating by accepting the Community ID as identification for purchases (with the exception of alcohol) and offering discounts to encourage our community to shop locally.
When you do business in Johnson County, ask the manager of the establishment if they have signed onto the Community ID program yet.  If they need additional information or a packet to sign up please respond to this email with details.
