Local labor leaders honor those who died on the job

ken dub wmdSpeaking in front of a somber crowd this eveneing, Iowa Federation of Labor President Ken Sagar noted that the number of workers who died on the job in 2014 was lower than in previous years.

However, that number matters little to the families who lost loved ones, he said.

“There are 39 names on this list, and it is 39 too many,” he said.

About 40 people gathered outside the Dubuque Union Labor Hall in observance of Workers Memorial Day, an annual event that recognizes those who died in the workplace.
