ACTION ALERT: CONTACT THE GOVERNOR!

ACTION ALERT: CONTACT THE GOVERNOR!
WHAT IS GOING ON? AFSCME represents individual consumer-directed attendant care (CDAC) providers, who care for some of Iowa’s most vulnerable disabled and elderly Iowans. Last year, we successfully stopped a proposed rule that would have eliminated this option. However, to ensure that individual CDAC remains an option for Iowans, we needed a change in the law. A bill has passed the Iowa House and Iowa Senate and is pending before the governor. The governor can sign or veto it.

WHAT CAN I DO? We need you to contact the Governor’s Office and urge the governor to sign Senate File 2320. Please act today because the governor’s decision to sign or veto is expected soon.

HOW? Governor Branstad’s office can be reached by calling 515.281.5211 or visiting the following website: https://governor.iowa.gov/constituent-services/register-opinion

Please make sure to contact the Governor’s Office using a personal phone/computer/e-mail from a non-work location/time.
