Local liberal group bashes Obama on trade stance

WATERLOO | Both President Barack Obama and Americans for Democratic Action talked about inequality on Tuesday night, but they weren’t speaking the same language.

The liberal lobbying group and the Iowa Council of the Communications Workers of America held an informational event Tuesday at the Waterloo Center for the Arts on a recent trade agreement proposal before the president’s annual State of the Union address.

Speakers talked about the agreement, the Trans-Pacific Partnership, by calling it “NAFTA on steroids” and discussing its negative consequences, from job losses to less food safety, for average Americans
