Iowa senator, who left politics after arrest, pledges a comeback

Tony Bisignano, who was a Democratic power broker in the Iowa Legislature in the 1990s until scandal disrupted his political career, hopes to make a comeback.

In an emotional speech this morning, Bisignano, 61, of Des Moines, told a meeting of labor union officials that he has much to apologize for in his personal life, but that he has never regretted any of the policies he helped push into law during 10 years at the Iowa Capitol.
