The U.S. Department of Labor’s new Overtime Regulations are under attack. H.R. 6094, a bill introduced by Republican Congressman Tim Walberg (MI), is meant to delay by six months the implementation of the new regulations which are due to begin December 1, 2016. The only rationale for delaying the overtime rule is to give the next Congress time to kill the rule altogether, robbing millions of workers of the opportunity to earn more pay or spend more time with their families.
A vote on the bill will take place this week so we urge you to contact your members of the U.S. House, particularly Democratic representatives, NOW and ask them to oppose H.R. 6094.
As background, attached is a letter to members of the U.S. House from Bill Samuel, Director of the AFL-CIO Government Affairs Department.
