Trump tries to hide lies by banning press, labor leader says – The Iowa Daily Democrat

trumka unionDES MOINES, Iowa – A top labor leader has launched a blistering assault on Republican nominee Donald Trump, signaling the opening of what is shaping as a fall campaign that will resemble a brawl.

“Seventy-eight percent of the factual claims made by presidential candidate Donald Trump that were checked by nonpartisan Politifact were ‘mostly false’ or worse,” said Richard Trumka, president of the 12.5 million-member AFL-CIO. “The report, issued on June 29, rated more of Trump’s statements ‘pants on fire’ than those of all other candidates combined.” Trumka’s statement was issued via an editorial in The Nation.

Trumka said Trump is working overtime to make sure his deceptions aren’t made public by putting sharp limits on the press coverage he allows of his campaign.
