You are invited to a meeting of local leaders, health care providers and families who depend on Medicaid funded health care services

medicaidThe meeting will take place at 4 PM on Thursday, September 24 in Room 108 of the NIACC Charles City Center, 200 Harwood Drive in Charles City.

Senator Wilhelm is organizing this meeting, and has arranged for State Senator Amanda Ragan of Mason City, the chair of the Iowa Senate’s Health & Human Services Budget Committee, to attend.

The purpose is to gather information and prepare for Governor Branstad’s effort to convert Iowa’s entire Medicaid population to managed care by January 1, 2016.

No other state has tried to make such fundamental changes so quickly and with so little planning. Senators Wilhelm and Ragan are concerned that seniors, people with physical and mental disabilities, children and mothers could be denied critical medical services.  They also want to ensure local health care organizations are adequately reimbursed for the cost of providing services under Medicaid.

Please forward this message to others who may be interested in attending this meeting.
