DES MOINES – The Supreme Court today affirmed that every American should have access to quality, affordable health care. Today’s decision ensures that nearly 40,000 Iowans, including thousands in Iowa’s first and third congressional districts, will be able to keep subsidies for their health insurance.
While the Supreme Court decision is very good news for Iowa families, it serves as a striking reminder that two of Iowa’s GOP Congressmen, Rod Blum and David Young, are both long time supporters of repealing the Affordable Care Act and even voted earlier this year to fully repeal the law.
Repealing the Affordable Care Act would result in thousands of Iowans losing their quality, affordable health care.
“Thousands of Iowans are already benefitting from the Affordable Care Act and will continue to have access to quality, affordable health care following today’s Supreme Court decision,” said IDP Press Secretary Josh Levitt. “However, Rod Blum and David Young have proven they will stop at nothing to deny health care to thousands of Iowans by repealing the Affordable Care Act. Instead of more partisanship and political posturing from Rod Blum and David Young, Iowa families deserve representatives in Washington who will ensure every Iowan has access to health care.”
